My journey in interpreting and language services has been both rewarding and humbling. I am incredibly proud to be part of a growing profession that serves vital sectors like health care, education, legal, social services and more. I envision a future where interpreting and translation are professionalized through skills building, continuing education, and legislative support. I envision a future where language access empowers those that need interpreting and translation to access services.There is a pressing need to educate service users and providers about the evolving landscape of our profession—not just locally but nationally and internationally. With organizations like AAITE, ATA, NAJIT, NCIHC, CCHI, and more, as well as language services Standards published by ASTM & ISO, we have the tools to elevate our field. As General Powell said, “A dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” I am committed to this dream—are you ready to join me on this learning journey?
